Role Summary

Rivian is seeking a talented and experienced Cloud Backend Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cloud computing, cloud platforms, and cloud-based technologies. The Cloud Backend Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Rivian's cloud-based backend systems. This includes designing and implementing cloud infrastructure, developing and deploying cloud-based applications, and managing cloud-based environments. The Cloud Backend Engineer will work closely with other engineers, architects, and product managers to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure cloud-based solutions. 


  • Design and implement cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, and networking 
  • Develop and deploy cloud-based applications using a variety of programming languages and technologies 
  • Manage cloud-based environments, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning 
  • Work with other engineers, architects, and product managers to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure cloud-based solutions 


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field 
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud computing 
  • Experience with a variety of cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP 
  • Experience with a variety of programming languages and technologies, such as Java, Python, or C++ 
  • Strong understanding of cloud security and compliance 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills 

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $163,000 - $188,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).


Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
