Role Summary

In this role, you will be a member of the CapEx leadership team, responsible for Construction Procurement for all Rivian Manufacturing Locations. You will partner with existing internal Facilities, Construction, Design, and Engineering teams across all disciplines through all stages of program development, from concept to launch. In addition, you will be responsible for Construction Procurement for all plant-wide building improvement projects. This role will require deep sourcing expertise and skilled relationship building to ensure all financial, contractual, administrative, and technical aspects of projects are being sourced, negotiated, and executed as required by Rivian. through smart, effective capex strategy creation and execution. This role will be based in East Atlanta, GA and report directly to the Sr. Director, CapEx.


Responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for large-scale complex advanced manufacturing plants, including market analysis, sourcing plan, risk assessment, and cost optimization.
  • Manage the procurement process from RFQ to contract award, ensuring transparency, fairness, and efficiency.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring the best value, quality, and delivery terms.
  • Establish and maintain strong executive level and working level relationships with key suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors, and monitor their performance and compliance.

 

Project Delivery

  • Manage commercial and contractual project delivery post project award to final acceptance.
  • Manage supplier and tiered supplier performance using first principles approach and key performance metrics.
  • Support value engineering and change management projects and processes

 

Leadership & Cross Functional Partnership

  • Manage, oversee, and inspire the Capex Construction team, by setting clear goals, holding accountability, and providing guidance, coaching, and feedback.
  • Report on CapEx Construction performance, progress, and outcomes.
  • Set cost and value targets and goals by utilizing should cost and benchmarking to set and track KPIs. Provide and implement recommendations for improvement.
  • Work closely with facilities and engineering teams to understand their needs and specifications, and provide them with the best solutions and support.
  • Coordinate with project managers, legal, finance, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and integration of CapEx activities and objectives.

 

Process & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with Company policies, procedures, and standards, as well as applicable laws and regulations.
  • Anticipate, identify and mitigate procurement and commercial risks and issues, and escalate them as needed.
  • Monitor and communicate spend forecast (against budgets and targets) with Rivian Finance team, identify and highlight early warning signs and work with cross-functional partners and suppliers to identify, assess and implement options to mitigate risks.
  • Establish and track efficiency metrics across CapEx Construction team. Identify areas of improvement, develop and secure approvals for improvement recommendations, and build, deploy, communicate and monitor improved processes.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in procurement and delivery of large scale construction projects, EV and Automotive OEM manufacturing preferred.
  • Bachelor’s and/or Advanced degree in Construction Management, and/or relevant Engineering/Supply Chain fields desired.
  • Demonstrated breadth of experience in complex project types and delivery methods – experience in construction of green-field manufacturing plants and in operating manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledgeable in the theory, principles, and practices of construction and procurement.
  • Strong understanding of the supplier, contractor/sub-contractor and equipment manufacturer landscape in Facilities and Construction.
  • Strong analytical skills, technical literacy, and attention to detail.
  • Be perceptive in determining when to zoom out and when to get into details.
  • Enthusiasm for solving complex cross-functional issues and driving process improvements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Clear and succinct communications skills.
  • High level of integrity and emotional IQ.
  • Exhibits strong sphere of influence across suppliers/contractors, project teams, and project teams.
  • Support and provide “customer service mentality” for multiple internal stakeholders effectively
  • Inspirational and passionate leader who leads by example and over delivers on commitments.
  • Proficient industry standard collaboration tools (e.g., BuildingConnected, Bluebeam, ACC, Smartsheet, Sharepoint, Confluence).
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment.
