Role Summary
The Field Service Technician will be responsible for overdelivering on the internal and external customer experience at our service locations. The ideal candidate will possess the technical acumen and the ability to provide a strong level of customer service. If you're able to think quickly on your feet, have a go-getter attitude, possess great communication skills, and have a passion for adventure, then we want you on the team. You will be working with our internal partners every day to assist with service needs and coordinate with our Service, Vehicle and Delivery Operations, and Field Service Engineer teams. This role will require a dynamic and resourceful leader with excellent oral and written communications skills, who will foster cross functional interaction and champion a culture of continuous improvement to support Service teams and customers within a Service center. To be successful in this role, you must have a customer-first approach, thrive in ambiguous and unexpected environments, tackling all challenges with a creative and flexible mindset. Experience in automotive, process standardization, continuous improvement, and managing escalations is a plus.
Responsibilities

- Support set up, training, and Launch at upcoming Service Centers \n
- Provide support to the field to support the Service organization \n
- Support, Train, Coach, and Mentor other technicians as assigned \n
- Able to work independently performing mobile repairs \n
- Perform diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections on vehicles \n
- Diagnose and repair moderate to complex electrical and mechanical vehicle issues \n
- Support campaigns and containment initiatives \n
- Work with a collaborative attitude and team spirit in an ever-changing, dynamic environment \n
- Maintain high quality work and efficiency while working with little supervision \n

- Responsible for the operation and storage of the company vehicle pursuant to applicable company policies and as permitted by applicable law \n
- Conduct repairs in a mobile setting, which may encompass various locations such as driveways, parking lots, and similar environments \n
- Thorough understanding of work order administrative responsibilities including parts ordering, obtaining customer authorization, and final invoicing \n
- Maintain inventory of tooling and equipment to ensure availability and proper management \n
- Demonstrates self-motivation, resourcefulness, and a strong orientation towards problem-solving \n
Qualifications

- \nAutomotive Technology/Technician Degree or equivalent experience \n \n
- \n5 or more years of automotive experience \n \n
- \n3 or more years of EV experience \n \n
- \n
- \nExperience using a variety of test tools including a PICO-scope, PCAN, Kvaser Memorator, & breakout box \n \n
- \nExperience in bumper-to-bumper diagnosis and repair \n \n
- \nHybrid repair background a plus \n \n
- \nOEM Certified Master Technician is a plus \n \n
- \nOEM Specific Technician Training is a plus \n \n
- \n
- \nStrong Mechanical and Electrical diagnostics experience, including high voltage systems \n \n
- \nStrong written and communications skills \n \n
- \nStrong organizational skills with attention to detail \n \n
- \nHas had experience mentoring and coaching other technicians \n \n
- \nAbility to drive non-commercial truck and trailer \n \n
- \n
- \nAbility to travel as needed, up to 80% or extended assignments \n \n
- \nMust possess a valid driver’s license, and have a clean driving record \n \n
- \nExperience working in start-up environments preferred \n \n
- \nNo drug or alcohol related driving incidents in the last 3 years \n \n
- \nNo more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 years \n \n

- \nMust have a valid driver's license in the state of residence that you will be driving/operating a vehicle \n \n
- \nWill be subject to continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring \n \n
- \nPhysical exertion may be required to perform occupational tasks (sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs) \n \n
- \nFrequent use of hands for purposes of grasping and using tools correctly, entering data, writing communications, or calling customers or internal partners \n \n
- \nStrong understanding of written and spoken English \n \n
- \n
- \nAbility to see, read and interpret documents such as governmental regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions or schematics. \n \n
- \nMust be at least 21 years old \n \n
- \nMust be available for a regular schedule of a minimum 40 hours a week, including weekends and holidays, according to business need. Shifts may include evening, overnight, or early morning hours \n \n
- Must be able to drive up to an average of 6+ hours per shift, with potential overnight stays on occasion \n
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range/Hourly Rate: $35.60- $50.95 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
