Role Summary
The Paint Process Engineering Technician will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring trials, launch activities and continuous improvement activities throughout paint shop. They will monitor the trial units through process tests to uphold the paint process control plan to ensure a quality product. They will be responsible for conducting a variety of quality tests on all processes in the paint shop (Pretreatment / Ecoat, Sealer, Primer, Topcoat, Spot Repair). The Paint Process Engineering Technician will assist Paint Process Engineers in gathering, analyzing and presenting data for troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions. May be assigned projects to work cross functionally or independently to support the Paint department needs
Responsibilities
- \n
- Communication and coordination with production and other departments (Body and GA) to run trials and tests \n
- Monitor quality of launch trials and generate tracking of defects to drive resolution \n
- Supports the Paint Process Engineering team in running process tests to ensure quality (Datapaqs, Film Builds, Audits, Viscosity, Wavescan, Air Balancing, PELT, etc) \n
- Assist the Paint Process Engineering team to implement continuous improvement projects \n
- Generates standards and update the Paint PFMEA, Control Plan as needed \n
- Communicate effectively across various internal groups \n
- Must be able to use hand tools, testing equipment \n
- Contributes with problem solving and resolution for root causes related to quality, downtime \n
- Ensures safety compliance and follow all rules \n
- Follows written/documented processes, procedures, and activities. Assists in generating documents as required \n
- Ensure quality and operation systems are implemented and functioning per standards \n
- Gathering data, and consolidating into required formats. Analyzing data to improve the process and implementing standards and corrective actions. \n
Qualifications
- \n
- Minimum Associates Degree, preferably in a technical field \n
- Preferred 1 yr experience in manufacturing facility \n
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint \n
- Understanding of paint defects and paint shop processes and equipment required \n
- Excellent communication and presentation skills \n
- Familiarity with data collection equipment, root cause analysis \n
- Technical and Mechanical aptitude \n
- Organizational skills \n
- Attention to detail \n
- Willingness to Learn \n
- Good Work Ethic \n
Physical Requirements:
\n- \n
- Ability to stand for 8-12 hours per day. \n
- Required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. \n
- Ability to lift and carry at least 25 pounds. \n
- Ability to perform all duties in a working environment that may contain dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather. \n
- Ability to access confined spaces (training to be provided), and areas only accessible by ladder \n
