Role Summary
As the Senior Manufacturing Engineering – Dimensional Engineering, you will be a technical lead for developing the dimensional strategy for Rivian’s new Drive Unit products. This will include developing the assembly process for Drive Unit and General Assembly, working cross-functionally with Manufacturing Engineers, Design Release Engineers, and Supplier Development Engineers to ensure successful product launch. The role is located in Plymouth, Michigan and will report directly to the Manager of Core Driveline Systems Powertrain Engineering.
Responsibilities

- \nWork upfront in the design process to develop and assess Drive Unit design targets for:
- \n
- Key sub-systems to housing interface. \n
- Axial and angular backlash with flank test pattern. \n
- Axial and radial stacks. \n
- Montecarlo simulations to understand effect of variation and help home in on the features with the highest contributions to variation. \n
\n - Cross-functional development and documentation of assembly datum schemes to ensure robust product manufacture. \n
- Perform part and assembly tolerance stack analysis and provide feedback to product and manufacturing engineering team. \n
- Development of key product maturation tools to be used in conjunction with quality loops to drive towards product excellence during new product introduction. \n
- Support and participate in Design Reviews by preparing and presenting stack analysis reports to highlight risks and propose solutions. \n
- Root Cause launch issues in a data driven way. \n
Qualifications
- \n
- BS or higher in engineering. \n
- CAD & GD&T proficiency with Transmissions/Drive Units– CATIA preferred. \n
- Expertise in 1D and 3D tolerance stack analysis, 3DCS preferred. \n
- Passion for problem solving with the ability to methodically root cause issues by following a first principles approach. \n
- Ability to make data driven decisions and demonstrate good analytical skills, experience with JMP or other statistical software beneficial. \n
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaboratively work with and influence cross-functional departments both internally and externally. \n
