Role Summary
The Component Engineer will be responsible for the electrical components that are part of Rivian's Electric Power Conversion circuit boards.
Responsibilities
- Interact with electrical, mechanical, quality, and system engineers
- Work with component suppliers, distributers, purchasing team and contract manufacturers
- Work with electrical engineers to select components based on performance, reliability, availability, cost, environmental and manufacturing requirements
- Review and approve component specifications from suppliers
- Interact with buyers and engineers to find alternate equivalent or better than parts
- Input and manage Rivian component Part Numbers in Rivian custom database
Qualifications
- Minimum BS Degree in electrical engineering
- Minimum 4 years experience in electrical Component Engineering
- Thorough understanding of all component types including active (transistors, diodes, ICs) and passive types (magnetics, capacitors, resistors)
- Experience using component research tools such as Silicon Expert
- Capability to read and comprehend engineering drawings and technical datasheets
- Detailed understanding of AEC-Q, RoHS AND IPC requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment
