Role Summary

Rivian is looking for a Senior Documentation Tools Developer to support and optimize our use of MadCap Flare and related products, enhance our content reuse strategy, and support documentation translation and publishing processes. The role develops customization for existing content outputs and builds new output types to support current and future products.


Responsibilities

  • Develop tooling for automating authoring, publishing, and quality testing processes for the Technical Publications team
  • Develop new MadCap Flare templates in HTML5, Clean XHTML, and PDF formats, and enhance existing templates
  • Research and implement advanced MadCap CMS features such as content hosting, analytics, build automation, and content management
  • Enhance the Technical Publications team’s current approach to content reuse via MadCap features, including projects, conditions, variables, and snippets
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues with MadCap Flare and other authoring tools Update and maintain CSS style sheets and scripts used for various output types
  • Participate in strategy and implementation for how content is styled, built, and published as we expand our documentation
  • Work closely with the UX/UI and software teams to implement designs to fully integrate technical documentation within mobile, infotainment software, and other applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, technical writing, engineering, or technology, or equivalent job experience
  • Experience in automation (builds, publishing, translation, and QA)
  • Expertise in the implementation and use of the MadCap CMS product suite, or similar XML-based tool
  • Experience developing style sheets for PDF and HTML output
  • 8 years of experience as a tools developer, technical writer or production editor supporting documentation development for hardware or software products
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems, work with ambiguity, and be self-motivated
  • Experience in creating processes to reduce complexity, cost, and human error
  • Experience developing and refining new processes, standards, templates, or internal tools for use by technical publications teams
  • Experience in content strategy, context-sensitive help, and user experience design
  • Experience with managing localization files for multi-language output
  • Ability to manage tasks and information flow using collaboration software such as JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, etc.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging work environment
  • Experience in scripting languages such as JSON, JQuery, or Javascript
  • Experience in SEO a plus
  • Experience in managing print inventory a plus

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $135,800 - $169,800 annually (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
