Role Summary

In this position, you will be in critical role to support launch of returnable and expendable packaging solutions. In many cases this will be the first ever design implemented, and historical costs and design footprints may not be readily available. You will be a leader in driving our CapEx costs down and supporting our production launches. The opening will be located in Plymouth, MI or at our Plant in Normal, IL facility and reports directly to a Manager, Logistics Purchasing.


Responsibilities

• Lead RFI/RFQ/RFP and strategic sourcing process for returnable, expendable and/or CapEx packaging supporting Rivian production and service parts.
• Develop sourcing strategies by analyzing the supply base, understanding of market conditions, past and estimated future spend and future technologies for strategic suppliers.
• Own the contractual process with suppliers by negotiating NDA’s, General Terms & Conditions and Statements of Work & Master Purchasing Agreements.
• Lead the sourcing efforts by proactively collaborating with stakeholders and Finance and aligning on what solutions are in Rivian’s best interest from a cost, term, relationship, environmental impact and operations perspective.
• Develop baseline cost calculations and negotiation strategies for projects that require Rivian Executive Sourcing Council approval.
• Proactively and with an attention to detail, maintain project status and updates within the project management tool of choice for Rivian Indirect Purchasing.
• Establish and maintain credible and responsive relationships with stakeholders by setting expectations for project results and timing. Timely response to inquiries from stakeholders is key to success in this role.
• Drive and implement continuous cost improvements through negotiations to achieve operational cost targets.
• Establish strong supplier relationships and manage performance through the creation of key performance metrics and regularly scheduled and managed Business Reviews
• Hold suppliers accountable for performance and execution
• Collaborate with Finance to align on budget actuals versus forecasted
• Analyze current spend data and identify opportunities for cost reductions and supplier consolidation
• Work closely alongside Stakeholders to meet their technical requirements, execute against set milestones and track sourcing progress
• Support Accounts Payable on payment processing or discrepancies
• Support supplier quality and technical reviews, review designs, prints and engineering led tasks to ensure best costs are attained


Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Packaging, or Engineering
• 1-3 years of relevant experience (Procurement, Packaging Engineering, Material Handling Program Management, Logistics or a relevant field)
• 1-3 years of Direct or Indirect commodity negotiation experience
• Good interpersonal, organizational, analytical and communications skills
• 5+ years MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
