Role Summary

Internship Term: January - August 2025, Co-Op (Start and end date not negotiable)

Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between December 2025 through 2028. This internship offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge robotic technologies, data analytics, and automation tools. The ideal candidate is passionate about robotics, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to meaningful projects.


Responsibilities

Automation Tools Development:

Migrate automation tools to a web-based platform to accelerate the commissioning process.

Develop automated Fanuc integration checklists and utilize the Fanuc System Design Tool.

Data Management and Analysis:

Structure robot data into Databricks using Karel-JSON parser.

Develop and maintain databases, including SQL queries and data models.

Robot Commissioning and Testing:

Participate in Robot Commissioner Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to refine and test web-based developments.

Setup FANUC Zero Down Time (ZDT) tools to enhance robot performance and uptime.

Develop an automated WEB template checker to ensure compliance with design standards.

Robot Operating System (ROS) 2 Integration:

Utilize ROS 2 for Fanuc robots to implement advanced functionalities.

Develop an automated robot collision zone checker to enhance safety and efficiency.

Machine Learning "Natural Language Processing":

Assist in machine learning projects, focusing on natural language processing applications.

Develop Python scripts and tools to establish a foundation for Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), focusing on Rivian robotics information and preparing this data to be utilized by a Large Language Model (LLM).


Qualifications

Educational Background:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at an accredited university in Robotics Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in Python programming.

Familiarity with Fanuc robots and related software tools is highly desirable.

Experience with ROS 2 (Robot Operating System) is a plus.

Knowledge of databases, SQL, and data analytics platforms like Databricks.

Understanding of JSON data structures and data serialization.

Basic understanding of machine learning concepts, particularly natural language processing.

Web Development Skills:

Experience in web development; familiarity with AWS serverless architectures is preferable.

Ability to develop user-friendly dashboards and interfaces.

Soft Skills:

Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.


Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships: The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law.

Rivian provides robust wellness benefits, and a medical insurance package for interns, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
