Role Summary

Engineering technicians play a critical role within the Electrical Hardware team at Rivian in Palo Alto, CA. Working side by side with our engineers, our technicians help develop, test, and deploy our cutting-edge infotainment and ADAS electronics. The ideal candidate for this role is an experienced electrical/engineering technician capable of troubleshooting, testing, repairing, flashing, and assembling electrical systems. Candidates must apply critical thinking skills to solve problems, have a mindset of continuous improvement, and effectively collaborate with team members across multiple organizations within the company. Responsibilities

  • Use electronic lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and data logging devices to test Rivian designed electronics
  • Flash Rivian design electronics with engineering and validation software builds
  • Follow root cause analysis processes to troubleshoot hardware and provide clear summaries to engineering or manufacturing teams
  • Perform rework and repair of Rivian designed electronics including testers and electronic control units
  • Solder electronic equipment and build electrical harnesses
  • Assemble electronics according to detailed specifications for engineering vehicle builds and validation testing
  • Operate Rivian designed testers and provide data to engineering teams
  • Maintain and optimize flashing procedures within the technician team
  • Operate thermal chambers and chillers as part of validation testing

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of technician work experience in electronics/engineering labs
  • Technician or technology degree
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and eCAD drawings
  • Familiarity with Jira ticketing
  • Proficient use of lab equipment such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, data loggers, and thermal chambers
  • Ability to follow software flashing processes including use of Linux command prompts
  • Proficient solder rework/repair of PCBAs (smallest component is 0402)
  • Strong communications skills with a collaborative mindset
  • IPC-610, IPC-620, IPC-7711, IPC-7721 or J-STD-001 certification preferred
  • Understanding of basic Linux shell commands preferred
  • Familiarity with SSH protocols in both Linux and Windows environments preferred
  • Experience navigating cloud based code repositories such as GitHub preferred

Pay Disclosure

  • Salary Range for Northern California Based Applicants: $45.63 - $57.03 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)
