Role Summary

The Sr. Shop Safety Lead provides oversight for lineside safety at Rivian manufacturing facilities. You will be responsible for implementing and supporting line driven safety initiatives at the Normal, IL manufacturing plant. This person will provide frontline safety support to team members and leaders for their department.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct frequent inspections of work areas to identify hazards, compliance gaps, and corrective actions.
  • Drive risk assessments with shop leadership for each station.
  • Partner with the Plant Safety (EHS) team to help drive safety initiatives and processes throughout the plant.
  • Support and coach frontline leaders with safety-related action items, incident investigations, and safety observations.
  • Support spill, emergency, and incident response.
  • Conduct regular engagement activities with Team Members, including supporting safety committees, delivering safety training.
  • Maintain frontline safety equipment to include PPE, eyewash stations, spill kits, fire extinguishers, and AEDs.
  • Attend and support shift start meetings
  • Maintain safety excellence scorecard on behalf of the department, and support leaders in successfully completing safety initiatives required by scorecard.
  • Work with stakeholders to perform task based risk assessments and update standard of work with safety requirements.
  • Help enforce safety requirements in work area
  • Support and participate in EHS Management System Assessments
  • Support, drive, and maintain safety committees for your assigned shop.
  • Deliver safety training as required, including LOTO, Confined Spaces Fall Protection, and New Hire Orientation.

Qualifications

  • Experience driving safety programs, training, and culture.
  • Strong interpersonal and people skills.
  • Demonstrated prior work experience relevant to this position. OSHA 10/30-Hour General Industry certification is preferred.
  • 5 years of experience working in manufacturing, automotive preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of safety experience.

  • Proficient in Rivian software tools including jira, confluence, google

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus


Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Illinois Based Applicants: $89,900-$112,400 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
