Job Description

About Rivian

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

The Sr. Staff Vehicle S&OP Program Lead is responsible for managing the end-to-end Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process for all Rivian vehicle platforms, including R1, R2, Commercial Vans (EDV/RCV), and future programs. This role is accountable for orchestrating the monthly S&OP cycle to generate a single, consensus operating plan that integrates demand, supply, and financial planning. The lead will also manage the weekly Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE) process to ensure near-term operational alignment and plan adherence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Monthly S&OP Cycle: Own the S&OP calendar and facilitate the full monthly process, ensuring adherence to each step: Product Review, Demand Review, Supply Review, Pre-Executive, and the Executive S&OP meeting.
  • Facilitate Key Planning Meetings: Prepare agendas, lead cross-functional planning meetings, and ensure clear inputs and outputs. Support functional teams in detailed scenario analysis. Document and communicate key decisions, assumptions, and action items to ensure accountability.
  • Develop the Integrated Plan: Consolidate inputs with all participating functions into a comprehensive S&OP package. Analyze data to identify gaps between plans, highlight key business trade-offs, and develop scenarios to support executive decision-making.
  • Lead the S&OE Process: Manage the weekly S&OE forum to oversee near-term (0-3 months) execution against the operating plan. Drive the resolution of short-term demand and supply imbalances with relevant operational and financial teams.
  • Drive Executive Decision-Making: Prepare and present, with other cross functional leads, the executive S&OP summary, clearly articulating the recommended plan, associated risks and opportunities, and their financial implications to enable effective leadership review and approval.
  • Performance Management: Establish and report on key S&OP metrics (e.g., forecast accuracy, plan attainment, schedule adherence) to measure process health and drive continuous improvement.
  • Continuous Process Improvement: Act as the subject matter expert for the vehicle S&OP process. Identify and implement improvements to enhance process maturity, data integrity, and the effectiveness of our planning tools and systems.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Supply Chain Management, with a primary focus on Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), Integrated Business Planning (IBP), or Production Planning.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related analytical field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience managing a formal, multi-step S&OP process in a global manufacturing company, preferably within the automotive or high-tech industry.
  • Deep understanding of demand planning, supply planning, inventory management, and their financial impacts.
  • Proven ability to facilitate cross-functional teams, influence senior leadership, and drive consensus on a single operating plan.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in developing and interpreting data-driven scenarios.
  • Experience with ERP systems and Advanced Planning Systems (APS) is required, Kinaxis is preferred.
