Role Summary
The Sr. Quality Engineer, will be a cross-functional role that ties together Customer Quality, Service Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing and Operations organizations.
In this role, you will partner with Design, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Production Control, Manufacturing & Process Engineering team to deliver high-quality vehicles to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with various cross-functional teams to ensure the Manufacturing facility implements and maintains all requisite controls for the detection, containment, and prevention of quality issues.
- Actively identify and address high-risk issues originating from various sources, including Service Quality data, Internal control gates, and Operations reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine the root cause of intricate technical challenges.
- Work with the Engineering team to define process parameters and criteria to ensure process capability is effective to meet product requirements.
- Develop Inspection plans.
- Develop inspection work instructions for Quality Gates, basing them on established specifications, industry standards, and the voice of the customer.
- Monitor and steer systematic problems through the operations system (Rivian Concern System).
- Ownership of Plant Quality for wiring harnesses.
- Provide validation for deviations and containment actions implemented within the factory to address critical quality issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent
- 4+ years of quality experience in manufacturing or engineering environments.
- 4+ years of LVE experience, especially for automotive wiring harnesses.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain testing methods for detection, diagnostics and investigation for wiring harnesses.
- Demonstrated project management skills and high level summary for plant quality awareness.
- Production Operations Knowledge - Understanding of complex production lines and urgency of escalation, investigation and resources to operate with production control, material handling, supply chain, engineering, and production team.
- Hands-on experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and testing methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (8D or similar method problem-solving experience) ~ SIX SIGMA Green Belt is a Plus
- Demonstrated experience with GD&T.
- Proficient in MS Office, CAD, Wiring Diagrams / Prints, Atlassian (Jira, Confluence) is a plus.
- Must be able to travel at least 20%, travel may increase in time
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, bilingual is a plus (English / Spanish)
- Team player - ability to work in a fast-paced, highly ambiguous, multi-cultural environment with cross-functional teams
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Illinois Based Applicants: $98,500 - $123,100 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
