Role Summary
The Sr. Engineering Technician II will be responsible for supporting the low voltage electrical Service Engineers to assess and support electrical repairs in the Rivian service network. You’ll help our field partners determine the best way to make low voltage electrical repairs on vehicles while ensuring the highest safety and quality standards are met. This role will require strong knowledge of electrical repairs, tools and components to be successful. You will be tasked with working cross-functionally to execute tasks in a timely manner all while meeting Rivian service standards. Clear and consistent communication with engineering and field staff is critical to ensuring efficient operations within this role.
The Sr. Engineering Technician II will be required to be onsite at our Irvine, CA facility on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
- Support service engineering ad-hoc harness repair component creation (connector pigtails,
terminal pigtails, jumper harnesses, and wiring harness re-configuration) - Discern between repairable or non-repairable harness damage for internal and field service
needs, and work as the line of communication between engineering and partners - Build standard work instructions (SWI) that meet Rivian standards for harness repair
components - Support low voltage electrical service trials to facilitate repairs in the field and for field
service actions - Train other team members on how to properly assemble harness repair components
- Collaborate with service engineering to develop creative solutions to LVE problems across Rivian
- Support and proactively collaborate with Service Engineering, Field Service, Technical Publications, Service Parts, and Service Training teams
Qualifications
- 4-6 years of experience working on automotive electrical diagnosis and repair
- High School Diploma, GED, or other recognized high school equivalency credential required
- Strong diagnostic experience
- Experience using wire termination tooling
- General understanding of how to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Willingness to work in a strong cross functional environment
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects at a single time and execute tasks in a timely manner
- EV service experience a plus
- Automotive trade degree, manufacturer-sponsored training, or SAE technician certification is
preferred - Experience creating standard work instructions and working in a start-up environment, are a plus
- Minimum age of 21
- No driving related suspensions or revocation of Driver License (within a 3-5 year period)
- Ability to read and speak fluent English
- No drug or alcohol related driving incidents in the last 3 years
- No more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 years
- Must have a valid driver's license in the state of residence that you will be driving/operating a vehicle
- Will be subject to continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring
- Ability to stand for 8-10 hours per day
- Frequent use of hands to handle or feel material during quality inspections
- Occasionally required to climb permanent or temporary stairs or ladders in construction environments
- Required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Required to communication using telephone and/or e-mail
- Ability to view, read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions
- Ability to lift and carry at least 25 pounds
- Ability to perform all duties in a working environment that may contain dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather
- Required frequent travel 6-8 hours in a company provided non-commercial vehicle
Pay Disclosure
The hourly range for this role is $33.31 to $44.13 for Irvine, CA based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.
The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus.
