Role Summary

The primary purpose of the Team Leader is to plan, organize and coordinate the overall daily activities of the Team Members who build our vehicles in our manufacturing plant. They will also provide job role coverage in the case of team absence. Additional responsibilities of this role may vary by department.


Responsibilities

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage day to day team member assignment plan based on available manning and skillsets.

  • Ensure team in following standardized work for the area through observations and coaching.

  • Maintain 5S and Safety standards through line walks.

  • Engage with team members to address concerns or issues to promote continuous improvement.

  • Ensure team has proper tools and material to perform their jobs.

  • Ensure standard business practices are followed (For Example: Non- Conforming Material).

  • Escalate line conditions to group leader or support staff.

  • Maintain quality standards through checks and audits.

  • Complete leader standard work.

  • Fill in as backfill team member for the area as needed.

  • Actively supports management in the planning and execution of the launch, ramp ups and production.

  • Lead continuous improvement activities as needed.


Qualifications

  • 2+ years of High-Volume Manufacturing experience, with a strong background in general assembly, sub-assembly, or production line environments (Required).
  • 1+ year of proven leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience on an assembly line (Required).
  • High School Diploma / GED / Equivalency (Required); Associate’s degree or higher in a related field (Preferred).
  • Strong understanding of assembly processes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and quality control standards (e.g., defect identification, torque verification, visual inspections).

  • Experience operating and troubleshooting common assembly equipment, including hand tools, pneumatic tools, and precision measurement devices.

  • Advanced Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.) for shift handoffs, line-side reporting, and team scheduling.

  • SAP Proficiency (Required) for managing bill of materials (BOMs), parts pulling, work orders, and production scrap data.

  • Ability to manage line pacing (takt time), balance assembly workstations, and coordinate parts flow to ensure daily production targets are met safely.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to coach, train, and guide Team Members on correct assembly techniques and safety protocols.

  • Ability to coordinate cross-training, manage daily workflow, and step in to perform assembly work across all stations to prevent bottlenecks

Physical Requirements

Because Team Leaders are expected to be hands-on, cross-train, and perform departmental work alongside their team, the following physical capabilities are required:

  • Ability to alternate between standing and walking 8-12 hours per day.

  • Ability to climb steps to access platforms and workstations.

  • Manual dexterity to grasp and manipulate small to large assembly components and operate hand tools.

  • Able to position one’s body to access and assemble materials (bending, squatting, stooping, kneeling, reaching below the waist, and reaching above the shoulder).

  • Ability to meet the pushing and pulling requirements for each assembly station (including Push: 45 lbs. / Pull: 35 lbs.).


Pay Disclosure

The salary/hourly range for this role is $25.00 for Illinois based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.

The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus.
