Senior QA Engineer - Crypto
Sokin
Senior QA Engineer (Crypto)
We’re seeking a Senior QA Engineer to drive end-to-end quality for our crypto-enabled product area, embedding quality practices into the engineering team (“shift left”) and ensuring high confidence releases in a regulated environment. This is a hands-on role requiring strong automation skills (TypeScript E2E), deep understanding of crypto transaction lifecycles and failure modes, and the ability to use modern (including AI-assisted) testing approaches to improve coverage, speed, and signal quality.

Key Responsibilities
Embed quality “shift-left” practices into the delivery team: clarifying acceptance criteria, defining test strategy, and influencing design for testability and observability.
Own end-to-end testing for crypto transaction flows across UI, API, and back-end services, including happy paths and high-risk failure scenarios.
Validate crypto operations and lifecycle states (e.g., signing → broadcast → mempool → confirmations/finality → settlement), including handling of retries, idempotency, and reconciliation.
Design, maintain, and continuously improve automated E2E tests written in TypeScript (e.g., Playwright), including enforcing code quality standards via linters and consistent review practices.
Maintain and improve CI/CD execution of automated suites (gating, reporting, flaky test management, parallelisation, and environment stability).
Execute strong API testing practices (contract testing where applicable), covering authentication/authorisation, limits, validation rules, and error handling.
Test non-functional requirements relevant to regulated crypto products: resilience, performance, monitoring/alerting behaviour, auditability, and production readiness.
Partner with Product, Engineering, Compliance/Risk, and Operations to ensure controlled releases, traceable evidence, and clear go/no-go criteria.
Contribute to test tooling and diagnostics, including reading/debugging services and test utilities in Python and/or Go as needed (log analysis, helpers, data generation, integration harnesses).
Apply AI-assisted testing pragmatically (e.g., generating/maintaining test ideas and cases, log triage, exploratory support), while managing risks such as hallucinations, data leakage, and over-reliance.
Drive continuous improvement via root cause analysis, defect trend insights, and prevention-focused actions (not just detection).
Requirements
3-5 years of experience in QA/test automation, with strong ownership of quality outcomes in modern product teams (Senior level expectation).
Practical experience testing crypto or digital-asset products in production (or equivalent depth via a regulated fintech handling crypto rails).
Strong understanding of how to test crypto transaction products end-to-end, across multiple transaction types and operations.
Strong knowledge of crypto concepts and “weak points” in regulated environments, including:
- Transaction lifecycle realities
- Address risk
- Custody/key management controls
- Third-party/node/provider risk
- Compliance expectations.
Hands-on experience maintaining and running automated E2E tests written in TypeScript (e.g., Playwright), including code quality enforcement via linters (e.g., ESLint/Prettier) and stable CI execution.
Working ability to read, debug, and contribute to test tooling and/or services written in Python and/or Go (e.g., integration harnesses, data builders, diagnostic tooling).
Strong API testing capability (REST/JSON; event-driven where relevant), including negative testing, schema/contract validation, and authZ/authN coverage.
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalent), including reporting, gating, and triage of flaky tests.
Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS or equivalent) and the practicalities of test environments.
Practical use of AI in testing: ability to use AI tools to improve coverage and speed (test design, exploratory support, log/trace triage).
Strong analytical thinking, clear written communication, and ability to work cross-functionally.
Experience in regulated fintech/financial services with knowledge of crypto is required.
Please note, candidates will need to have the right to work in the jurisdiction that they are looking to work in.
We are an equal opportunities employer committed to creating an inclusive work environment. As a growing global startup, we value agility and flexibility in our working culture. If you require any accommodations during the recruitment process, please let us know.
