Tabs is the leading AI-native revenue platform for modern finance and accounting teams. Tabs agents automate the entire contract-to-cash lifecycle, including billing, collections, revenue recognition, and reporting, to help teams eliminate manual work and accelerate cash flow.

High-growth companies like Cursor and Statsig rely on Tabs to generate invoices directly from contracts, reconcile payments in real time, and automate ASC 606 compliance.

Founded in 2023, Tabs has raised over $91 million from Lightspeed Venture Partners, General Catalyst, and Primary. The team is headquartered in New York and brings deep expertise in finance and AI.

About the Role

Tabs builds the systems modern finance teams rely on. Our engineers work across real production systems, complex data flows, and product surfaces used by teams who need software they can trust — from usage-based billing pipelines to merchant onboarding to the integrations that keep customer data in sync.

This posting spans our engineering teams rather than one specific squad. Wherever you land, you'll report into an engineering manager or tech lead on that team, and you'll be trusted with real scope from day one — not handed a backlog of pre-scoped tickets.

How We Work

  • We work hard. One-week sprints, weekly ship goals, and a bias toward shipping over polishing forever.

  • We work smart. Customer- and data-driven. Engineers join customer calls, stay close to Support and Success, and put real work in front of real users early.

  • We work together. In-office by default. More whiteboards than employees. Hard problems get solved faster side by side than over Slack.

What You'll Work On

  • Core backend services and APIs powering billing, payments, and revenue workflows

  • Product surfaces that finance teams touch daily

  • Data models and pipelines that hold up as transaction volume scales

  • Integrations that keep Tabs in sync with the systems our customers already use (ERPs, CRMs, and more)

  • Interfaces and tools that make complex accounting concepts simple for users

  • Internal systems that improve reliability, observability, and performance

You'll partner closely with Product and Design. Quick conversations, whiteboard sessions, and collaborative problem-solving are part of the daily rhythm.

What We Care About

You'll thrive here if you:

  • Enjoy owning a feature end-to-end, from the first design conversation to fixing the edge case that shows up in production three weeks later

  • Care about correctness and write code you'd be comfortable maintaining a year from now

  • Are curious about domains you don't already understand, and are willing to sit with discomfort while you learn them

  • Can disagree respectfully, explain your reasoning, and change your mind when the data says you should

  • Are more generalist than deep specialist — comfortable moving across the stack rather than staying in one lane

What we don't care about as much:

  • Exact years of experience

  • Whether you're "frontend" or "backend" by title

  • Whether you went to a bootcamp, self-taught, or a CS program

  • Whether you've worked in fintech before

If you've shipped real software, owned something beyond your assigned ticket, and learned something the hard way from breaking prod, we want to talk.

The Stack

We care more about how fast you learn than experience with our exact stack.

  • TypeScript, Node, NestJS

  • React, Next.js

  • Postgres

  • Redis

  • Temporal for job orchestration

TypeScript proficiency is a must — comfort with it (or a very close equivalent) is table stakes at every level here.

Experience

  • Professional software engineering experience shipping production code (roughly 2–4 years — we're flexible on exact level)

  • Experience building web applications or backend services that real users depended on

  • Comfort with a modern backend language/framework and a modern frontend framework (React or similar)

  • Experience working with APIs and relational databases

  • Bonus: side projects, open source, or things you built and maintained outside of a day job

Perks and Benefits (Full-time Employees)

  • Competitive compensation and equity

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Up to 100% employer covered monthly healthcare premium (medical, dental, vision)

  • Lunch provided via Sharebite, plus dinner for any later in office days.

  • Parental leave up to 12 weeks

  • Tax free commuter and parking benefits

  • Voluntary insurances (Life, Hospital, Critical Illness, Accident)

  • Employee Assistance Program (Rightway)

  • Free One Medical Membership

  • 401k
