The Role
- The Supervisor, Global Logistics and Transportation will operate and oversee the execution of the global transportation strategy as outlined by leadership as well as assist with daily management of the global mile logistics activities. The Supervisor will lead by example, and while handling their own brands and shipments, will be a role model and provide guidance on industry best practices, trade compliance, and team management.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the global logistics operations in China, ensuring compliance with Chinese regulations and international trade compliance rules for suppliers with no export license.
- Lead and mentor a team of Global Logistics & Transportation Coordinators in China, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align logistics operations with overall business objectives and initiatives, as well as be a liaison for our Global Logistics coordinators for internal escalations.
- Oversee the coordination with service providers to ensure timely planning and execution of shipments, leveraging relationships to negotiate favorable terms and service levels.
- Work closely with Global Logistics and Global Procurement USA teams to Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers and shipping providers, driving collaborative efforts to enhance efficiency and resolve operational challenges.
- Act as a key liaison between suppliers and transportation providers, proactively addressing specialized transportation requirements and ensuring seamless execution.
- Work with Global Logistics Management and operations team to develop and maintain a comprehensive database by supplier and SKU level for transportation special requirements, Amazon specification and costing per unit on FC, placements and AWD leveraging insights to drive process improvements.
- Guide the team to serve as the point of contact at origin for shipments, overseeing timely pick-ups and container loads while effectively managing any service issues or escalations.
- Work with USA Team on Trade Compliance brand/ ASIN base requirements to ensure forms and classification validation are being processed at the beginning stages of our booking process to avoid delays with customs clearance at the destination.
- Facilitate cross-functional communication and collaboration among various supply chain departments, promoting synergy and alignment across the organization.
- Provide strategic support to management by generating comprehensive reports, assisting in monitoring performance metrics(KPIs), and recommending actionable insights to enhance logistics operations.
- Assist Management with monitoring the data integrity within ERP systems and prepare regular reports to support decision-making and performance monitoring.
- Lead efforts to enforce export documentation compliance from suppliers, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and standards.
- Conduct ongoing reviews of freight costs from Asia origins, leveraging insights to inform local negotiation strategies and drive cost efficiencies.
What You Bring to the Party
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Supply Chain, Logistics and Transportation, etc.
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience, including 2 years in a supervisor role in global logistics or related fields.
- Knowledge and experience dealing with global end-to-end service providers, freight forwarders, trucking/rail/shipping lines/ airlines for FCL, LTL, FTL
- Strong understanding of global logistics operations, including proficiency in Chinese regulations and international trade compliance standards.
- Strong understanding of ERP, TMS, and WMS systems.
- Outstanding communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in using analytical tools and technologies to analyze data, and generate insights for decision-making.
- Passion for excellence and detail-oriented - Thrives in fast-paced environments – Exceptionally poised under pressure.
- Nice to have: proficiency in using PowerBI/Smart Sheet/Excel/Google Sheet.
