Role Summary:
The Quality Engineer (QE) will serve as the point of accountability for ensuring the integrity, compliance, and consistency of all mixing and filling operations. This role is responsible for implementing and monitoring controls that safeguard product quality, with a focus on preventing contamination, validating processes, and driving continuous improvement across production. The QE must also excel at clear, effective communication across all levels of the organization and leverage strong computer skills to manage quality systems, documentation, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Oversight: Monitor mixing and filling operations to ensure adherence to approved formulations, batch records, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Quality Controls: Develop and enforce in-process quality checks, including microbial testing, preservative validation, and environmental monitoring.
Equipment Assurance: Verify proper cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance of mixing and filling equipment; approve equipment readiness before production runs.
Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations into any deviations, contamination events, or product quality failures; ensure corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) are implemented effectively.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain complete and accurate records of batch testing, equipment cleaning, and quality checkpoints in compliance with GMP and internal standards, using electronic quality management systems (QMS) and digital reporting tools.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate findings, risks, and recommendations clearly to Production, R&D, and Operations teams, ensuring alignment and accountability.
Continuous Improvement: Identify trends in quality data, recommend process enhancements, and drive initiatives that improve efficiency while maintaining or elevating product quality.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles, microbial testing, and regulatory requirements (GMP, ISO standards).
Experience in chemical formulation, mixing, or filling operations preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, train, and collaborate across teams.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), electronic QMS platforms, and data analysis tools.
Demonstrated ability to lead investigations, drive process improvements, and enforce quality standards.

Job Type: Part-time (At least for 3 months and not to exceed 6 months)
Location: Toledo, OH 43610 (must be within commuting distance)
Compensation: $40–$45 per hour, based on qualifications and experience
Schedule: Minimum 20 hours per week, Monday–Thursday
