We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Coding Specialist to join our organization. This position plays a vital role in supporting accurate and compliant medical coding processes using NextGen EHR/PM and auditing through Healthicity software. The ideal candidate will possess a CPC or CPC-H certification, with auditing credentials (CPMA) considered a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for behavioral health services using documentation in the NextGen system.
  • Conduct coding quality reviews and assist in audit preparation and follow-up using Healthicity software.
  • Collaborate with clinical and billing teams to resolve coding discrepancies and ensure timely claim submission.
  • Assist with internal coding audits and participate in ongoing education to ensure compliance with current coding guidelines and payer requirements.
  • Support provider education by identifying documentation deficiencies and trends in coding errors.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of behavioral health coding practices, payer guidelines, and regulatory changes (e.g., CMS, HIPAA).
  • Respond to coding-related inquiries and assist with denial management as needed.
  • Participate in department meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications

Required (Education/Experience/Competencies):

  • Required Certification: CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CPC-H (Certified Outpatient Coder).
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, documentation requirements, and compliance guidelines.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred (Education/Experiences/Competencies):

  • Preferred Certification: CPMA (Certified Professional Medical Auditor) or willingness to pursue within 12 months.
  • Proficiency in NextGen EHR/PM
  • Experience using Healthicity or other auditing platforms preferred.
  • Experience supporting provider education and compliance training initiatives.

We value this position at $55,000–$60,00 per year, depending on your experience and skills.
